Basic Steps to Build a Custom Home
¨ Establish a budget range. $_____________ to $______________ ¨ Establish a time frame for starting and completing your home. ¨ Determine how your new home will be financed. Ø Mortgage Ø Cash Ø Other ¨ Choose a lot, unless you already own buildable property. We can hold a lot in Abiqua Heights for 30-45 days with a deposit while you make the needed decisions to proceed with a custom home project. ¨ Choose an available custom plan, choose a stock plan (using our resources, the internet, or plan books available for purchase), or have a designer or architect design a home for you. ¨ Provide basic information on what you would like in a new home. ¨ Decide on finish materials. Ø Read and fill out as much as possible: “Client Choices Overview.” Ø Provide required “allowance” item choices and pricing. Ø Share any photos, literature, information on what you hope to include in your new home. ¨ Receive a bid from Black’s Construction, Inc., including specifications for the quality of materials to be used, a list of allowance items, and an allowance budget. ¨ Sign a contract for a construction project. Ø Receive “Product Selection Timeline.” Ø Finish making any choices needed for allowance items. Ø Fill out: “Product Selection” forms as needed. ¨ Visit the site during construction as frequently as you like. ¨ Move in to your new home!
